Today, Thursday 21 July, at the Military Airport of Trapani Birgi, the alternation in command of the 37th Wing took place between pilot colonel Luca Capasso, outgoing commander, and pilot colonel Salvatore Ferrara, incoming commander.
The event, chaired by the air squad general Maurizio Lodovisi, commander of the air squad, accompanied by the air division general Claudio Gabellini, commander of the Combat Forces, saw the participation of the highest military, civil and religious city authorities as well as all personnel military and civilian deployed.
In the farewell address, Colonel Capasso referred to his command period as saying "... I can say that all the objectives assigned to the Department have been achieved ... by the daily complex and stimulating coexistence between the civil airport, a fundamental reality for the territory, and the Air Defense, equally indispensable for the country, to the numerous exercise activities such as the Trident Juncture, one of the major exercises carried out by NATO in recent years ”. Turning to his staff, he went on to acknowledge that he possessed "qualities such as spirit of body, passion, pride, inventiveness and concreteness, thanks to which he always manages to amaze when passing from words to action".
At the conclusion of his speech, he addressed a wish to Colonel Ferrara for the new and prestigious post he held.
Colonel Ferrara, during his speech, said he was "aware of the great skills and potential that the staff of the 37th Wing is capable of expressing, in terms of human and professional qualities" and, addressing the staff, he added "... I feel alive in you the exemplary sense of belonging to one of the top departments of the Italian Air Force, equipped, among other things, with one of the most modern aircraft on the world aeronautical scene, with a Flight Group among the most qualified in the Armed Force ".
In the concluding speech, General Lodovisi acknowledged that the 37th Wing has the three fundamental elements to better face the challenges of the future: Technology with a modern and effective system such asEuro Fighter, the human value of the men and women of the flock who demonstrated first-rate quality, professionalism and dedication leadership “Which has found the maximum expression with the work of the col. Capasso, who was able to involve and direct all personnel to the achievement of the set objectives. To the new commander, the col. Ferrara, the burden of doing better than what its predecessor did ”.
