Three emergency medical flights in 24 hours for the 31 ° Stormo

On the afternoon of Tuesday 12 January, a F he went to the Catania Airport Fontanarossa where he embarked a child of 10 years suffering from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and in imminent danger of life. The operating room of the 31 ° Stormo, alerted by the Summit Situation Room of the Air Team Command, ordered the immediate take-off of a F. The young patient, accompanied by his mother, a resuscitator and a nurse, was transported to Ciampino Airport where an ambulance of the Bambin Gesù was waiting for him for immediate hospitalization.

A few hours later the same aircraft departed for Bari Palesi to pick up a Pugliese patient from 55 who was waiting for a liver transplant for whom a compatible organ had become available at a hospital in Bologna.

In the early afternoon of Wednesday 13 January the Operations Room of the 31 ° Stormo was again alerted by the Summit Situation Room contacted by the prefecture of Cagliari for the immediate transport of a one-day-old baby in a thermal cradle and in imminent danger of life from the Sardinian capital to Rome for subsequent admission to the Bambin Gesù Hospital where the child was able to receive the urgent care she needs . The mission ended successfully in the late afternoon.

The aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino are used for state transport and for public utility missions such as the medical transport of sick, severely traumatized and transplant organs, as well as for interventions in favor of fellow citizens in situations of risk.

This last activity, given the imminent danger of life of the patients transported, imposes a level of readiness twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
