Patient of 32 years transported from Naples-Capodichino to Bergamo

04/06/15

On the evening of Tuesday 2 June, the Top Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, at the request of the Prefecture of Naples, ordered the immediate execution of a flight mission for an urgent medical transport in favor of a man of 32 years waiting for hepatic transplant, for which a compatible organ was made available at the Pope John XXIII hospital in Bergamo.

A Falcon 900 aircraft of the 31st Wing of the Air Force stationed in Ciampino was therefore identified, which soon landed in Capodichino and, after a stop of only five minutes at the military apron of the Neapolitan airport, necessary to ensure the patient's boarding operations, he took off for the Bergamo Orio al Serio airport.

The use of the aerial instrument has allowed the respect of the restricted timescales (six hours from the call) necessary for the Bergamo health facility to be able to proceed with hospitalization and subsequent intervention.

The aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino are used for state transport and for public utility missions, such as emergency medical transport of patients, traumatized persons and organs for transplants, as well as for interventions in support of people who in any case are in situations of risk.

The Capodichino Airport Command, previously designed and built to be the headquarters of the Aeronautical Academy, already operating base of the 4 ° Stormo and of the 4a Aerobrigata Intercettori, as well as of the 86 ° Antisom Group, now provides logistical support to the co-located Organizations and to the US Naval Support Activity of Naples, as well as 24 flight line support hours per day / 365 days a year to military and state flights. Since the beginning of the year it has supported numerous flights on the national territory for the transport of patients in need of urgent care, often in imminent danger of life. Since last April 7, it has ordinarily been based under the command of the Special and Support Forces.
