Change at the top of the general office of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force: the air brigade general Girolamo Iadicicco leaves the command to the air brigade general Paolo Cuppone. The sober ceremony took place on 21 July in the "Sala Madonna di Loreto" of Palazzo Aeronautica, in Rome, in the presence of the Chief of Staff, Air Force General Luca Goretti.
“Working alongside the Chief of Staff made me particularly proud, particularly grateful. They have been years of constant growth, years in which the great responsibilities and difficult decisions that often resulted from them have always enjoyed the reassuring beacon that is you, General Goretti. Thank you for allowing me to grow, you never stop doing it, not even at my age! Thank you for believing in me and for being both a guide and a friend”. These are the moving words of Gen. ba Iadicicco, in his farewell speech. Then addressing the staff of the general office, he continued as follows: “Thank you for your support, thank you for your diligence and initiative that you have never failed me, thank you for making my job easier, I could never have managed everything alone, or I could have had a lot of difficulty! Good luck to you Paolo, with your experience and preparation, you can only do well". Finally, the general wanted to address a thought to his colleagues who are no longer here: "Often, passing in front of the Lapidarium of Palazzo Aeronautica, I stopped to read the names of our fallen, men and women who lost their lives during the operations that our Armed Forces require, operations behind which the real objective of the our job. My personal thanks go to them”.
Then the gen. ba Paolo Cuppone who, addressing the head of SMA, wanted to express feelings of gratitude for the trust placed in entrusting him with the new prestigious position: "I will do everything in my power to continue doing well as my predecessor did, to continue working with the same innovative drive and always be effective in supporting the Chief of Staff".
Finally, General di sa Goretti, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, intervened who, in appreciating the complex and precious work carried out by General Iadicicco, dedicated words of esteem and trust to the incoming general: “I am sure that the continuity of purpose, teamwork, experience and professionalism that distinguish you will be the path to take together to achieve the future objectives of the Armed Forces. We have done so much and we will do so much more, above all in the current year, which is the year of the Centenary of AOS. The admiration aroused outside the Armed Forces for all the initiatives undertaken has made us proud and eager to do better and better. Thanks Girolamo for your help, good luck to you Paolo!”
Before the exchange ceremony, General Iadicicco and General Cuppone paid homage, in the presence of the Chief of Staff, to the War Flag of the Air Force, guardian of the sacrifice and of the values which have always inspired the work of the men and women of the Arma Azzurra.
The General Office of the Air Force Chief of Staff is responsible for coordinating staff activities and providing decision support to the Chief of Staff, as well as planning, directing, coordinating, and managing the Chief of Staff's protocol activities greater.
