The c.te of the Austrian Air Forces in Italy visits the AM flight schools

On Tuesday 7 April, a delegation of five Österreichische Luftstreitkräfte officers, led by Brigadier General Karl Gruber, commander of the Austrian Air Force, arrived in Italy to visit the Air Force flight schools.

General Gruber was welcomed at Palazzo Aeronautica by the head of the General Staff, air force general Pasquale Preziosa.

The first visit was the military airport of Galatina with the aim of deepening the knowledge of the integrated training system in preparation for use on 5 generation aircraft.

Upon their arrival, the guests were welcomed by Colonel Paolo Tarantino, commander of the 61 ° Stormo.

After attending a briefing to present the Department's activities, during which the evolution of the educational programs and systems used by the Air Force to ensure excellence in flight training was illustrated, the guest officers visited the main structures of the Department connected to the volatile activity, showing particular interest for the sophisticated integrated functional training system for the T-346A aircraft, the latest generation Italian "trainer" to be used at the airport.

General Gruber, moreover, took the opportunity to greet the instructor and the two Austrian students currently working for the 212 ° Gruppo Volo of the 61 ° Stormo.

The next day, the commander of the Austrian Air Forces visited the "Girolamo Moscardini" airport, home of the 72 ° Stormo.

The delegation arrived with the air brigadier general Antonio Maurizio Agrusti, head of the 1 ° Department of the General Air Force, by Colonel Leonardo Barone, commander of the 72 ° Stormo and by two officers of the General Staff.

The delegation received a briefing in which Colonel Barone illustrated the phases of the training program of the military pilot employed on helicopter lines, with reference to the training procedures, the selective requirements and the teaching methods, in particular on the e-learning platform. and multimedia education.

The delegation then visited the premises hosting the TH 500B helicopter flight simulator, where Brigadier General Gruber attended a training mission, appreciating the realism and the extensive simulation capabilities of the system.

Finally, the delegation visited the premises of the 208 ° Gruppo Volo, where the students attend all the daily activities of the volitional phase of the articulated training iter to become a helicopter pilot.
