After 60 years back to the SSAM of Caserta

25/05/15

Last Thursday the former students of the 7 Corso Specialists met again in Caserta at the SSAM, run by Colonel Veniero Santoro, to remember their enlistment, which took place 60 years ago.

The students of that course made their entrance to the School in the 1955 where they spent a training period of the total duration of 12 months.

On the Piazzale delle Bandiere, the approximately 30 "gatherers", accompanied by some family members, gathered to spend a day together and relive the emotions and memories of the time spent by young people approaching life in Aeronautica Militare for the first time.

The meeting at the SSAM began with a deposition of a Laurel Wreath at the monument to the fallen of the Italian Air Force and then continued with a Holy Mass and a visit to the sectors of greatest interest to the Caserta Institute, such as educational facilities dedicated to training specialists.

During the farewell greeting, Colonel Santoro had the opportunity to underline: "[…] being here sixty years after your enrollment in this School is the most important testimony you could give. Here you have moved the first steps into our big blue family, reliving the same emotions after so many years is a reason for satisfaction, both for you and for the school that formed you [...] ".

At the end of the day there was the hearing "Break the lines!" With the farewell to the next gathering.

The Specialist School of the Air Force provides basic military, cultural, technical-professional and moral training for the specialists (sergeants, sergeants and volunteer troops in permanent service), destined to be employed by the AM Departments, both in the territory national, that in operating theaters abroad, as well as of non-managerial personnel of the Armed Forces interested in a process of conversion / professional qualification and of the "Aircraft Maintenance" of other Armed Forces and Police Forces.
