Monday - The destroyer Lancer under the command of the corvette captain, Gustavo Orsini makes a special outing at sea in the waters of the Gulf of Spezia.
It runs at various speeds on a straight course with a bow wind having a towed one idroaliante (A seaplane with no engine, basically a glider with subaltern floats, designed and built by Calderara himself with "onboard vehicles" and arsenal aid) piloted by vessel sub-lieutenant Mario Calderara for a series of flight tests.
With this system Calderara, an enthusiastic enthusiast of air travel, is able to slowly break away from the water, to let go of the towing cable, to hover in the air and make short flights and then land. With that exploit which originates from his studies on the "flying deer with floats", the Italian naval officer anticipates, albeit in an indicative manner, the advent of the seaplane.
