1885 - The corvette Vettor Pisani (commander, frigate captain Giuseppe Palumbo) in the phase of return from his third journey of circumnavigation of the globe, coming from Aden, arrives at Assab.

The conflict with Turkey will interrupt the development of the latter which will be resumed only in December of the 1912.
