06/03/2015 - The Chief of Staff (COS) of the NATO Resolute Support (RS) mission, general of the army corps Paolo Ruggiero, yesterday visited the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC-W), Italian-led multinational command on a "Garibaldi" Bersaglieri Brigade base.

The senior official, the highest ranking Italian military authority in the country (Italian Senior National Representative - IT SNR), was welcomed by Brigadier General Maurizio Angelo Scardino, commander of the TAAC-W, who illustrated the operational situation and activities Logistics in progress related to the repatriation of vehicles and materials no longer in use (ITACA 2 operation).

The COS of RS has also visited the TAAC-W facilities, such as the Unity of the Country Conference and Training Center and the Engineer Training Area, where most of the assistance and consultancy activities carried out by the Italian Advisor Teams are conducted in favor of the Afghan security forces.

General Ruggiero also met with the leaders of the local Army and Police, congratulating them on the excellent results achieved in the control of the territory and in the fight against the crime of every matrix.
