20/02/2015 - Yesterday the commander of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, welcomed the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Philip Breedlove, at the NATO Mission Headquarters in Pristina. The commander of the Joint Force Command of Naples (JFCN), Admiral Mark Ferguson III.

The maximum military summit of the Atlantic Alliance for Europe was updated on the current socio-political situation and the state of security in Kosovo. In particular, the important role played by KFOR in contributing to the maintenance of peace and stability in the area was underlined.

Subsequently, General Breedlove addressed a greeting address to the multinational contingent, expressing words of appreciation for the excellent work done by the military in this complex theater of operation that is of strategic importance in the entire Balkan chessboard.

SACEUR also confirmed NATO's commitment to the region for the future, underlining how the stabilizing role of KFOR represents the prerequisite for the complete normalization of the area that must take place through dialogue and cooperation between the parties involved.

During the visit General Breedlove, accompanied by General Figliuolo, met the main representatives of the International Organizations operating in the area, including the head of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), Italian Ambassador Gabriele Meucci, and the main heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Kosovo, including the Italian Ambassador Andreas Ferrarese.

During these meetings, SACEUR reiterated the importance of mutual cooperation among all the actors present in order to develop, within the comprehensive approach, the maximum synergy of intent between local institutions and the International Community, to define and implement intervention policies aimed at developing all the strategic sectors of the country.

The NATO Multinational Force in Kosovo, headed by General Figliuolo, has about 5000 men and women from 31 Countries and is based on recent independent surveys carried out on a significant sample of Kosovo population belonging to all ethnic groups, the international organization perceived which is more reliable.
