11/02/2015 - This morning, in the presence of Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo commander of the Kosovo Force, at the base of the Multinational Specialized Unit (MSU), the alternation ceremony of the commander of the carabinieri of the MSU was held.

Colonel Francesco Maria Chiaravalloti, effective at the Operational Command of Rome's Inter-Forces Summit, took over from Colonel Gregorio De Marco, in command of the KFOR unit for about 14 months.

The event was attended by the Italian Ambassador in Kosovo, SE Andreas Ferrerese, Brigadier General Sebastiano Comitini, commander of the 2 Brigade Mobile Carabinieri of Livorno, numerous local political and religious authorities and various representatives of international organizations accredited in Kosovo .

Colonel De Marco, in his farewell speech, retraced the salient events of his period of command emphasizing the effective work of the Carabinieri who daily contribute to the maintenance of peace and stability in a sensitive sector such as the city of Mitrovica.

Words of appreciation came from both General Comitini and General Figliuolo, who underlined the professionalism, dedication, altruism and the results of absolute importance obtained by the carabinieri who contributed to ensuring the maintenance of freedom of movement and the necessary security conditions of the area. In particular, General Figliuolo highlighted:

"The Multinational Specialized Unit has played and continues to play a decisive role here in Kosovo. Not only did it conduct daily garrison and patrol activities in the city of Mitrovica, but it also carried out important projects in favor of the local population, contributing significantly to the success of KFOR ".

The MSU is a KFOR unit made up entirely of Carabinieri which has the task of guaranteeing the security of the city of Mitrovica by means of patrolling and control of sensitive targets.
