Visit of General Farina to the departments located in Grosseto and Siena

The Army Chief of Staff, Gen. ca Salvatore Farina, visited the departments located in Grosseto and Siena. Welcomed by the commander of the Veterinary Military Center (CEMIVET) of Grosseto, Colonel Simone Siena, General Farina met civil and military personnel in the barracks "MO Lieutenant Villi Pasquali" and, visiting in particular, the Equestrian Department and the Dog Group, you is complimented on the objectives achieved thanks to the skills and preparation of the men and women who are part of it.

The head of SME stressed, in particular, the importance of the dog's ability which, officially born in 2002 with the establishment of the Dog Group, represents an excellent component of the Armed Force capable of raising the levels of Force Protection in missions abroad and, at the same time, it provides valuable support in numerous medical research and study activities.

General Farina continued his visit to the "Emanuele Beraudo di Pralormo" barracks Savoy Cavalry (3rd) where, accompanied by the commander, Colonel Ermanno Lustrino, after the greeting to the glorious Standard of the regiment, he met the "paratrooper knights" for a greeting.

During the meeting, the head of SME expressed full satisfaction for the professionalism and competence shown through the peculiar activities carried out daily by the staff of the Savoy Cavalry (3rd), founded in 1692 and the only one of its kind on the national scene, urging everyone to always work with enthusiasm and enthusiasm to complete a reorganization process started 6 years ago and guided by two very precise premises: the multi-weapon brigade as a fundamental element for the Operational Forces and the substantial increase in the capacity for "entry from the third dimension".

A constant commitment by the department, which since 2013, becoming the Exploring Unit of the "Folgore" paratrooper brigade, carries out all the tactical activities already contemplated in the tasks assigned to a line cavalry regiment, with priority for the activity of Terrestrial Tactical Exploration, in favor of the paratrooper brigade, in any scenario of employment and, in particular, in the context of airborne operations.

The visit ended with the meeting of General Farina and the paratroopers of the 186th "Folgore" regiment, in the "Bandini" barracks in Siena where, after honoring the regimental War Flag, accompanied by the commander, Colonel Federico Bernacca , met all the military and civilian staff in force in the unit, including Mrs. Passeri Giovanna, wife of Captain Antonio Fortunato, who fell in the attack on September 17, 2009 in Kabul.

The meeting was an opportunity to thank the men and women of the department for the professionalism and skills with which they perform their duties to meet the numerous commitments at national and international level and to underline the importance of future developments in the department in terms of capacity and systems, as well as the progress of important infrastructural modernization works underway within the barracks.
