Papal audience for the "Aosta" brigade

At the end of the general audience held this morning at the Nervi Hall in the Vatican, Pope Francis met the commander of the "Aosta" brigade, Brigadier General Bruno Pisciotta, accompanied by the military chaplain Don Paolo Solidoro, and a representative of military units of the brigade, recently returned from the "Leonte XXVI" operation in Lebanon, where the "Aosta" brigade was responsible for the Joint Task Force-Lebanon Sector West.

For the occasion, General Pisciotta brought as a gift to the Pope "La Madonna del Cedro", a work painted by the Lebanese painter residing in Italy Ali Hassoun, which summarizes the spirit of union between peoples through the figure of the Virgin Mary.

During the mission period in Lebanon, the men and women of "Aosta", in addition to ensuring in the area of ​​operation the monitoring of the cessation of hostilities, the professional training of the Lebanese Armed Forces and humanitarian support to the population, had particular attention to interreligious dialogue, facilitating relations between Italy and Lebanon in the field of economic and cultural development.
