The CH47s return home

The operations to return home the "biggest" component of the "Fenice" Task Force with the return to the Pratica di Mare airport of the first group of two CH47 helicopters have begun.

The landing of the giant aircraft Antonov 124, in which the two helicopters were stowed, happened last Friday.

The Fenice Task Force, operating from the 2005 has largely exceeded the 20000 flight hours and carried out more than 7000 missions in favor of the coalition units and in support of the Afghan security forces.

The Blue Basques have operated with CH47 "Chinook" helicopters in Afghanistan from the 2008 showing themselves to be an indispensable asset in logistic support, infiltration and exfiltration missions of the coalition special forces and in emergency refueling activities at the forces control posts Afghan security.

In addition to being the largest component, it is also the oldest component with 41 years of service in AVES.
