The exercise of the 82 infantry regiment "Turin", Unit under the brigade of the "Pinerolo" brigade, held at the occasional polygon of Torre di Nebbia, ended recently.
The training activity enabled the personnel of the Maneuvering Support Company to use the VBM "FRECCIA" 120 mm mortar holder as well as the training of riflemen to use the medium 81 mm mortar, thus implementing the capacity of the personnel to operate with the two weapon systems supplied.
The recent assignment of the VBM "FRECCIA" mortar door, equipped with the Thomson weapon system with 120 mm ruled core, is part of the Forza NEC project acronym of Network Enabled Capabilities. This system, characterized by a great capacity for mobility, speed of deployment, precision and protection, increases the means of a medium infantry regiment, significantly increasing its "combat" capabilities.
The Forza NEC project, a joint Defense-Industry project, aims to reduce communication and information acquisition times in military operations by means of new information technologies capable of connecting every single soldier on the network, directly and immediately land with the Command and Control center.
The commander of the mechanized brigade "Pinerolo" Brigadier General Giovanni Gagliano took part in the final phase of the exercise and expressed his appreciation for the level of training achieved, the motivation and the skills expressed in greeting all the personnel present. The activity that has just ended was also preparatory to the use of the "TORO 2019" exercise, which will see the "Pinerolo" brigade and the "Turin" infantry regiment alongside the "Aragon" brigade of the Army Spanish, under TACON (tactical control) of the Castillejo division, at the Spanish range of "San Gregorio" in Zaragoza.
The exercise on the basis of bilateral agreements and an intense activity of cooperation and friendship between the two countries will end with an exercise of the Tactical Group, with the use of a pluriarma Task Force and Command post that will operate in an integrated manner in a scenario of type warfighting.
