The Army Corps General Claudio Graziano, Chief of Staff of the Army, spoke yesterday at the Center for High Defense Studies at the round table "Negotiation in the Resolution of Conflicts: the Mozambique case".

Activities, moderated by Division General Antonio Venci, were attended by Prof. Daniele Cellammare, Ordinary and Head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Rome "Sapienza", which outlined the historical-political context that served as the backdrop to the UN intervention in Mozambique, and Mgr. Matteo Maria Zuppi, as representative of the Community of Sant'Egidio, at the time the protagonist of the mediation work that led to the Rome agreements.

General Graziano, during his speech, highlighted how the Italian mission in Mozambique represented, in addition to being the starting point in the path of maturation and professionalization of the Armed Force, an "epochal watershed", sanctioning the passage from a "quantitative" model ", Suitable for the symmetrical comparison, to a" qualitative "one, more appropriate to the operations that the Army is called to conduct in today's scenarios.

The national commitment in Mozambique ended with a complete political, diplomatic and military success, marking a fundamental moment for the institutions of our country. The Chief of Staff of the Mozambique Air Force was also present at the conference.
