Today the funeral of General Cappuzzo was carried out

This morning, at the "Salus Infirmorum" church of the "Celio" military polyclinic in Rome, the funeral of the army corps general Umberto Cappuzzo, former army chief of staff and general commander of the carabinieri, was held. died in Rome last 13 May.

To receive the corpse, carried on the shoulders of young army officers and carabinieri, a battalion in arms that made military honors at the coffin.

The religious ceremony, officiated by Monsignor Giovanni Marra, former military ordinary archbishop for Italy, was attended by General Rolando Mosca Moschin, military adviser to the President of the Republic, General Claudio Graziano, chief of staff of the army and General Leonardo Gallitelli, commander general of the carabinieri.

During the homily, Monsignor Marra, after retracing the most important stages of the brilliant military career of General Cappuzzo, recalled "the long season of work and dedication to the homeland of the general who has not stopped serving even after leaving the "uniform. Elected Senator, for two terms he continued to offer that contribution of thought, experience and sincere passion for the res publica that was congenial to him".

The army chief of staff, General Claudio Graziano, in his speech, after addressing words of affection and closeness to Mrs. Evelina, widow's general, recalled that the High Officer "lived through the second part of the short century by living all the most important events, from the second world war to the internment, from the cold war to the transformations of the institutions of which he was the head, bringing, in every occasion, his intelligence, his authority and his ability ".

The ceremony concluded with the reading of the condolences of the President of the Republic, of the prayer of the Soldier and of the Carabiniere.

General Cappuzzo will be buried at Verano in the chapels of the Holy Mary Odigitria of the Sicilians Brotherhood of which he was prior emeritus.
