"Safe Roads": Foiled up in the historic center of Rome

13/06/14

Yesterday morning an army patrol intervened to retrieve a purse stolen from a lady after a robbery by a boy, near Piazza Barberini, in the historic center of Rome.

The boy of foreign origin, being chased by a passer-by after the attack, attracted the attention of the soldiers who, sensing the situation, promptly blocked him.

The army patrol, belonging to the 82 ° "Turin" regiment of Barletta, while waiting for the arrival of a law enforcement officer, provided for the detention and search of the individual.

The subject was then transferred to the local police station for the necessary provisions.

Since August 2008 the "Granatieri di Sardegna" brigade has participated with about a thousand units in the "Safe Roads" operation in the square of Rome, in competition with the police, in order to combat crime and to ensure a safe environment for the citizens and the numerous tourists of the capital.
