"Safe roads": steals a tourist's smartphone and runs away. Blocked by an Army patrol

A 27-year-old Pakistani citizen, without employment and with precedents, was stopped yesterday by an Army patrol engaged in the "Safe Streets" operation, after the attempted theft took place inside a subway car against a English woman in Rome for tourism.

During a run of the Metro A, at the height of the "Spagna" station, the thief came into action by taking the smartphone away from the unfortunate woman who, realizing the theft, tried to pursue the man who in the meantime had managed to disappear between the crowd that crowded at the exit of the subway.

The action was interrupted by a patrol of soldiers of the 152nd infantry regiment of the "Sassari" brigade who, having noticed the scene, intervened to rescue the victim by blocking the fugitive, recovering the mobile phone that the young man had hidden under his backpack. immediately returned to the rightful owner.

On the spot, the intervention of a carabinieri patrol was requested, which took over the thief and, having reconstructed what had happened, took him to the offices of the Roma San Lorenzo in Lucina station where he was denounced on the loose on charges of aggravated theft.
