Sanremo, 31 August 2021. The Sanremo Training Base Military Bathhouse was named after the corporal Tiziano Chierotti, with the affixing of a commemorative plaque, during an official ceremony held on site.

Alongside the Chierotti family, civil, military and religious authorities were present, including the deputy commander of the military command of the capital Lieutenant General Gerardo Restaino and the mayor of Sanremo Alberto Biancheri.

From Sanremo, Chierotti was in the force of the 2nd Alpini Regiment (engaged in the ISAF Mission in Afghanistan) when, on 25 October 2012, he lost his life during a firefight in the locality of Bakwa.

Moreover, in these days, the logistic training base of Sanremo is hosting refugees from Afghanistan, helping to provide them with maximum support, together with the other bases located in Edolo (BS), Colle Isarco (BZ), Riva del Garda (TN ), Roccaraso (AQ) and Camigliatello Silano (CS), all dependent on the military command of the capital, a unit of the Army participating in the humanitarian effort in favor of Afghan citizens in difficulty.

The ceremony took place in full compliance with the provisions issued by the government regarding the containment of the spread of the CoVid-19 virus.
