Specialists of the 2nd sapper genius regiment continue the work of defusing war remnants

The occasional reclamation of the territory from explosives by the Army bomb disposal continues. The specialists of the 2nd sapper engineering regiment of the "Julia" alpine brigade secured a series of medium-caliber artillery shells from the Travignolo stream, in the municipality of Primiero San Martino di Castrozza (TN).

An important intervention, which began at the end of last July with the safety of 14 artillery shells and continued today with the recovery of another 34 devices of the same type. Explosive artifacts of the piercing type, of Italian manufacture and dating back to the First World War, probably ready for use against some Austrian forts in the area.

Throughout the national territory, the Army bomb squads inserted in the engineering regiments distributed in the areas of Italy, work to ensure public safety in activities that are configured within the framework of the Civil Protection sector. In this case, the Alpine troop command of Bolzano and the government commissariat for the province of Trento operated.

The clearance of ordnance is of great importance for the safety of the community and, in the same way, also its prevention with the information and awareness of the population on the risks to be avoided and on the behaviors to be followed in the event of the discovery of explosive devices. These artifacts are, in fact, to be considered always dangerous and therefore to be promptly reported to the police in the area.
