An advanced training course organized by the Central Logistics Group ended in recent days.Office of Military Psychology and Psychiatry of the 1st RAGEP department of the Army General Staff.
The event, aimed at military psychologists of the various Armed Forces, was organized with the aim of improving training in the emergency sector and providing the Defense sector with military psychology services ready to manage serious events, to support families and command action, even in critical situations.
The course, accredited by the Ministry of Health as part of the programme Continuing Medical Education, 17 officers from different departments of the Army, Navy and Air Force participated. The occasion was precious to promote the sharing of best practices developed by the Armed Forces in the delicate area of family support, to promote the consolidation of skills and the exchange of experiences and organizational procedures.
The course of “Specialist in the psychological management of critical events” It allows to prepare, motivate and qualify military psychologists who will be able to intervene in situations characterized by pain and high complexity, supporting the military and their families, providing the tools to protect the health of children and parents in the face of sudden and potentially traumatic events.
The training event was developed over five days, divided into theoretical and practical activities aimed at acquiring knowledge, learning functional behaviors and enhancing the skills needed to carry out psychological support activities, according to the theoretical models accredited by the scientific community and the organizational procedures consolidated over the years by the Army for the management of negative events.
During the course, many topics were addressed: communicating the news, the phases of the mourning process, complicated and pathological mourning. In addition, topics related to trauma management and the development of a resilient approach were developed.
At the end of the course, the head of the 1st department Recruitment, Legal and Economic Affairs of Personnel, Maj. Gen. Giovanni Sanzullo emphasized the value of the psychological support that the Armed Forces offer to soldiers and their families, in many difficult situations.
