The "Pegaso 3/2020" exercise, implemented in the use of virtual simulation systems, ended yesterday with the full validation of the "Taurinense" alpine brigade.

With the support of Simulation and Validation Center of the Army (Ce.Si.Va.), for the first time there Command Post Exercise (CPX) "Pegaso 3" was planned, developed and conducted at home - at the "Monte Grappa" barracks in Turin - through new methods of use, in line with the procedures in place to combat the contagion from Covid-19.

As part of simulation and virtual training, Ce.Si.Va. constitutes the main reference of the Army for the application of training simulation in preparation. The activity of the Center is in fact focused above all on the organization of exercises aimed at certifying the achievement of operational capabilities, identified as "fundamental" for the fulfillment of the mission, by the command posts, staff and units intended for use. outside the national territory. To this end, Ce.Si.Va. employs technologically advanced computer simulation and command and control systems, also making use of the collaboration of sector experts and personnel already employed in the operating theater of reference.

The "Pegaso 3" was conducted using a computer network already present at the headquarters of the brigade, allowing the trained personnel to operate from their usual positions or from new positions specially set up. At the same time, a multilevel digital / analog simulation system was tested which integrated the "virtual" capabilities of the VBS-3 simulation system with the analog component of the command posts. In particular, elements at the patrol level have operated using the VBS-3 providing injections in real time to the superordinate commands, without following predetermined tracks and thus determining a greater realism for the brigade command exercised.

In the current emergency context, the use of intensive use of multilevel simulation systems has confirmed the ability and effectiveness of the Army to achieve the training objectives, in a context of constant security otherwise difficult to pursue, however, in increasingly more contexts. realistic.

The "Pegaso 3/2020" aims to verify the operational capabilities of the "Taurinense" alpine brigade by evaluating the planning and production of orders, monitoring the operational situation and updating Common Operational Pictures (COP), also responding to crisis situations developed in the context of credible scenarios and contextualized to specific operational theaters.
