The "Istrice 2023" exercise, conducted by the 6th pioneer engineer regiment, ended in recent days. The training event saw the engineers engaged in pioneering and deployment support activities with the creation of an operational base in Mezzocammino (RM) followed by its rapid redeployment at the Nettuno (RM) firing range.
In a few hours, the unit redeployed from one location to another all the assets used, including an entire module for water treatment, together with specialized activities culminating in the conduct of a continuous foot patrol in the Tolfa mountains (RM) . The latter envisaged joint training with Army Aviation personnel who ensured the support of a CH-47F helicopter of the 1st "Antares" regiment stationed in Viterbo for the insertion and subsequent extraction of personnel.
The training activity was then completed with the carrying out of a march and a shooting range with individual weapons and with the conduct of specific training against improvised explosive devices (C-IED).
