34 volunteers in fixed stops (VFP4) have completed today, at the Infantry School, a training cycle, lasting seven weeks, aimed at using the mortars supplied to the Army, before being able to be employed in the role of "mortar" in the departments operations of the Armed Force.

Under the guidance of the instructors of the Institute, the young soldiers focused on the use of the medium 81mm Expal mortar and the heavy mortar Thomson-Brandt 120mm. The volunteers studied the methodology for calculating the shooting data and experimented with the observation of the shot and the evaluation of the effects of the fire on the targets to be hit.

The training ended with a final exercise, held in the Monte Romano shooting range in the presence of the commander of the Infantry School, Brigadier General Roberto Viglietta, during which the volunteers carried out various shooting exercises, some particularly complex, until the unit is redeployed in another area from which to continue the fire action.

Training in the use of mortars is part of the training and specialization activity of volunteers in fixed stops
