The 66th "Trieste" Aircraft Infantry Regiment recently completed the advanced off-road driving school course on Lightweight Multirole Tactical Vehicle (VTLM) “Lynx”.

The activity, planned and conducted by qualified “Off-Road” driving instructors of the aircraft regiment, was carried out in favor of its personnel, the 8th “Folgore” paratrooper engineer regiment and the Multinational CIMIC Group.

Divided over five days, the course was developed on a theoretical and a practical phase with day and night driving activities with the aid of IR and light-intensifying vision systems.

The practical phase was used to increase the knowledge of the vehicle, whose weight and bulk represent a difficulty for every driver, and the ability to tackle even particularly treacherous itineraries.

The practical exercises, designed in order to push the training to the maximum of realism, involved the overcoming of longitudinal and lateral slopes, holes with sandy and irregular bottom, "twist" (which consists of a staggered but continuous succession of holes and bumps ), stretches with protruding boulders and overcoming a ford about one meter deep.

The course took place on the “An Nasiriyah” advanced off-road driving track, recently inaugurated at the 6th general support logistic regiment in Budrio (BO).
