Reconstitution of the 2nd "Grenadiers of Sardinia" regiment

This morning at the "Giuseppe Garibaldi" barracks in Spoleto (PG), twenty years after the suppression, which took place on 29 October 2002, the ceremony for the reconstitution of the 2nd "Grenadiers of Sardinia" regiment was held, with the alternation in the position of commander between the transferor, Lieutenant Colonel Andrea Pagliaroli, and the successor, Colonel Pier Giorgio Giordano, sanctioned with the passage of the War Flag of the 2nd Regiment Granaders of Sardinia.

The ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary of State for Defense, Hon. Giorgio Mulè, the commander of the Southern Operational Forces, gen. ca Giuseppenicola Tota, the president of the Umbria Region, lawyer. Donatella Tesei, the prefect of Perugia, dr. Armando Gradone, the mayor of Spoleto, dr. Andrea Sisti is the brigade commander Granaders of Sardinia gen. b. Giovanni Brafa Musicoro, in addition to the Combat and Weapon Associations, former soldiers of the regiment and other local institutions.

"The extraordinary 'family' of the Grenadiers of Spoleto is expanding. For the undersecretary, "Defense military and civilian personnel represent a precious resource that has earned the appreciation of the institutions and of the country in the field".

The regiment originates from the "Guards" regiment, established in Turin on April 18, 1659 and is placed directly under the "Granatieri di Sardegna" mechanized brigade.
