Yesterday morning the engineers of the 4th Palermo sapper regiment concluded the reclamation operations of the war device found in recent days in Paternò (CT) in the Sferro district.

The leftover, on which the Army specialists intervened, consisted of a 250-pound British aircraft bomb equivalent to 105 kg; the bomb, designed to destroy road communications installations and routes, contained more than 30 kg of high-potential explosives.

The reclamation operations began at 6 am with the safety of the device and the subsequent transport to a quarry where it was destroyed, safeguarding the safety of the population and respect for the territory in which the activities took place.

To allow for the reclamation intervention, about 30 citizens residing near the place of discovery were evacuated and some roads closed, including the Palermo - Catania A / 19 motorway in both directions.

Since the beginning of the year there have been 219 bombs, of different types, that the Army has destroyed in Sicily in 67 reclamation operations.
