Protests at the Afghan embassy, ​​the military intervene

Yesterday afternoon, a patrol of the "ROME" group of the "Safe Roads" operation intervened to stop a group of protesters who tried to force the entrance of the Afghan embassy in Rome's noment quarter.

The patrol, under the brigade command "Granatieri di Sardegna", responsible for the grouping, managed the presence of about thirty demonstrators, of Afghan nationality, standing in front of the embassy waiting to be received for problems on documents and residence permits.

After a long wait, Afghan citizens began to take aggressive postures and snatch notices posted outside the embassy. Promptly the military on surveillance service, belonging to the 3rd Bersaglieri regiment of Capo Teulada (CA), requested the intervention of the police and intervened with crowd management techniques to isolate the most troubled elements and with the collaboration of a carabinieri patrol, which arrived on the spot, managed to restore order, avoiding the deterioration of the situation.

From August 2008 the "Granatieri di Sardegna" brigade, reinforced by assets of other units, participates in the 4000 army men in the "Safe Roads" operation on the territoriality of the city of Rome, coordinated by the 2 ° defense forces command ( 2 ° fod) of San Giorgio a Cremano, in competition and jointly with the police to guarantee the security and prevention of petty crime in the capital.
