The lessons learned from the out-of-area use of the Army soldiers have highlighted a growing need for highly trained personnel, able to provide safety to the leading figures present in the various operational scenarios. In this context, the so-called “escort and VIP protection” courses held by the personnel of the 9th “Col Moschin” parachute assault regiment are part of the training activities planned for the preparation of the Units for international operational theaters.

The high specialization of the personnel involved in this assignment involves preparatory activities that prepare and select the military for the attendance of courses specifically programmed by the Armed Force. In this context, the “Close Protection Team” pre-course held at the 82nd “Turin” infantry regiment had the purpose of verifying the possession of the standard requirements and assessing the preparation of the selected personnel.

Specifically, the instructor team has intensely engaged the military with both theoretical and practical activities to assess their degree of preparation at 360 °. Targeted shooting lessons were conducted with Beretta 92 FS pistol and Beretta ARX 160 rifle, precision shooting techniques and gun handling techniques, target acquisition and information reporting were refined; distance estimation and topographical exercises were carried out together with an intense gymnastic-sporting activity to verify the ability to react under psycho-physical stress.

The preparation, which took place in full compliance with the regulations in force for the contrast and containment of COVID 19, allowed the participating personnel to enhance the training level, discuss the experience gained in the specific sector and confirm the concrete professionalism of the men of the "Pinerolo" brigade.
