In the Valnontey valley (Municipality of Cogne - Aosta Valley) four Instructors from the Alpine Skiing Section (SSA) and two Alpine Guides from the Military High Mountain Section (SMAM), conducted an innovative training: the first training course for movement on steep ice. The training session had as its purpose the passage of experiences and operational techniques (overcoming vertical obstacles, consisting of very steep walls and ice channels) to personnel already in possession of the qualification of Military Mountaineering Instructor, so that they are baggage experiential within the Mountain Warfare Winter courses that the Training Center organizes for personnel belonging to the Alpine Troops.

For the realization of the training format of the course, the staff carried out two days of movement on ice falls, defining the contents and the didactic progression to be developed in the future training course. The participation of military mountaineers, formerly SMAM Alpine Guides, was decisive in terms of technical contribution, as thanks to them it was possible to pour the precious experiences lived during the multiple expeditions outside Europe and the countless climbs of very high difficulty made in the Alps.

Two intense training days, during which the six military mountain specialists were able to confront each other, exchange experiences and fine-tune their preparation, in order to complete the important training appointment that will allow future course attendants to increase their skills in terms of verticality and articulation, typical and peculiar aspects of the Alpine Troops.
