On Wednesday, during the traditional and general audience in St. Peter's Square, a representation of men and women from the "Pinerolo" brigade of Bari met the Holy Father.

The soldiers, together with their families and accompanied by the brigade commander, Brigadier General Stefano Del Col, spent a morning of prayer in a faith-filled atmosphere.

The ovation, also mentioned by Pope Francis, refers to the imminent operational use of the Pinerolo brigade which will start next October for the "Leonte" mission in southern Lebanon, assuming the responsibility of the Italian contingent.

At the end of the hearing, General Del Col donated to the Holy Father, in addition to a Crest of the Pinerolo, a figurine, made by a local craftsman, depicting a foot soldier in the historical uniform of the "La Regina" regiment of 1741 from which he draws origins the 9 "Bari" infantry regiment, the oldest regiment of the Pinerolo brigade.
