At the 66th aircraft infantry regiment "Trieste", the course of Individual Air Combat Training (AICA), the first organized according to the recently approved new procedure, aimed at giving the personnel belonging to the unit the technical-tactical skills that constitute the identifying essence of the aircraft units.

The new 10-week process, introduced by the commander of the "Friuli" Brigade General Stefano Lagorio, involves passing a Practical barrier test (TPS1). Gained access to Basic aero-mobility course and to that of Advanced air mobility the aspiring infantryman acquires the ability to pack and hook the loads to the center of gravity hook of an aircraft, to carry out the so-called handover target and to learn the insertion skills with the helicopter descent techniques by means of rappelling (rappelling) ) and "fast roping" (canapone) in daytime and nighttime. After having received the blue Basque coveted staff, the appropriate personnel are assigned to the operating companies of the 1st aircraft battalion.

The intense training activities, considering the health emergency related to Covid-19, were planned and conducted by implementing the envisaged containment and emergency management measures, with the adoption of the envisaged individual protection devices and ensuring the distance between the attenders . The massive use of the shooting simulation system, Fire Arms Training Simulator (FATS), has also allowed staff to consolidate the high training levels achieved in individual and team fire activities conducted at the Foce Reno military range.

The Aircraft Brigade "Friuli", even in an emergency, continues to train and prepare its personnel, unavoidable activities that allow the Armed Force to maintain the necessary level of "operational readiness" expressed in the more than 20.000 military personnel engaged daily in operations at abroad and nationally.
