The traditional award ceremony took place in Piazza Sigismondo Castromediano in Cavallino (Le). black beret to the initial-service volunteers (VFI) of the newly specialized cavalry on armored vehicles.
A deployment of over 150 soldiers, cavalry specialists, filled a square full of relatives who had come from all over Italy and numerous citizens. The event was framed by personnel in historical uniforms as a tank driver with helmet and as a knight with lance and the band of the mechanized brigade Pinerolo.
Brigadier General Matteo Rizzitelli, commander of the Cavalry School, kicked off the event, symbolically bringing the new VFI cavalry to “investiture”, with the delivery of the black beret to the new operators for the armored forces, with the specialization: “crew tank driver”, “scout” and “heavy scout”.
When the green berets were thrown into the air, all the volunteers lined up wore the black beret decorated with their specialty, officially becoming “Cavalry Soldiers”.
To enrich the emotional intensity, the moment of the readings of an open letter to the families by a young knight and the good wishes message to the young volunteers by the graduate adjutant Rocco Leo, effective at the Institute and awarded the Gold Cross for Valor of the Army and Gold Medal for the victims of terrorism.
With the acquisition of the specialty, the 146 volunteers, including 17 women, will join the cavalry and tank regiments for operational use.
The Cavalry School, as a training institute responsible for the specialization of Army personnel, within the scope of the courses carried out for officers, non-commissioned officers, graduates and volunteers, annually specializes approximately 1000 soldiers: cavalry specialists, highly trained crews and reconnaissance specialists, served by the most modern technology that projects the Army and the cavalry into the future with operational preparation in line with current international security scenarios in which the armored component plays a leading role.
