Last Wednesday, the chief sergeant Gianni Posillipo, effective at the railway engineer regiment, qualified operator and trainer Basic Life Support - Defibrillation (BLS-D), received a request for assistance through the "DAE Responder" application, developed and managed by the 118 Emilia Romagna service with the aim of contributing to reducing intervention times on the "blue codes" through the timely warning of rescuers authorized to use the defibrillators in the area.

The military, realizing that the event had happened just outside the barracks, intervened promptly and without hesitation, carrying the defibrillator installed near the driveway entrance of the "Montezemolo". Arriving on the spot, he ascertained that a woman was in conditions of semi-consciousness, promptly carrying out first aid operations, carrying out triage and putting in place the maneuvers to recognize any stroke. Subsequently, the non-commissioned officer called 118 who intervened with an auto-ambulance, transporting the patient in code 2 (urgency) to the hospital for the appropriate medical treatments.

BLS-D training allows the Italian Army soldiers to be always ready to intervene in an adequate and timely manner, not only towards military personnel, but also to help citizens. In this case, the preparation of serg. Maj. Ca. Posillipo, the knowledge acquired during the course combined with the readiness of spirit and cold-blooded, made it possible to save a human life, confirming once again the perception of the citizens of an Army as an institution serving the country.
