The Army remembers the fallen

This morning, on the day of remembrance of the dead, the chief of staff, general of the army corps Pietro Serino, commemorated, in the name of the whole Italian Army, the fallen of every era and war, laying a crown of laurel at the Memorial of the Army Palace, to pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives in the fulfillment of their duty and thus always keep alive, in the new generations, a collective awareness of the roots and national identity.

The ceremony was attended, in addition to the commander of the Command of the Land Operational Forces and Army Operational Command (COMFOTER COE), General of the Army Corps Giovanni Fungo and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, General of the Army Corps Gaetano Zauner, the department heads and key figures of the Army Staff, to underline the solemnity of this anniversary, particularly felt by the men and women of the Army.

The commemorations continued at the Verano Monumental Cemetery where, in the presence of the Defense Chief of Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the Army Chief of Staff, Army Corps General Pietro Serino and the other leaders of the Armed Forces , a laurel wreath was placed at the hemicycle of the Military Memorial. At the end of the ceremony, the military ordinary for Italy, Monsignor Santo Marcianò officiated the Holy Mass.

At the same time, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Corps General Gaetano Zauner, paid homage to the tomb of General Enrico Cosenz, a former student of the Royal Military College of the Nunziatella and first Chief of Staff of the Army, in the presence of a representation of the department heads of the Army staff, of the relatives of General Cosenz and of some students of the Military School.

The commemoration of the fallen soldiers represents a fundamental guide for the new generations of soldiers, who bear the burden of preserving the inherited values ​​and keeping alive the teachings of those who preceded them.
