The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Claudio Mora visited the National Army Selection and Recruitment Center (CSRNE) to preside over the inauguration of the computerized classroom for selection.

The central theme of the visit was the inauguration of the computerized room for the administration of psychoattitudinal tests introduced in the Army by the Office of Psychology and Military Psychiatry.

These tests are based on the concept of Cerebral plasticity or the ability of the brain to vary function and structure not only during its development period, but also during adult life. This concept was systematized by the world-renowned neuroscientist prof. Michael Merzenich, with whom the Armed Force has established a fruitful relationship in recent years, in order to carry out a project that includes the selection, training and clinical recovery of the Soldier through exercises that affect particular brain areas.

These "Exercises" allow to evaluate the candidate's "Brain Functionality", in particular his mental abilities of attention and speed of perception, skills that are tested through the reactions to visual stimuli induced through a computer.

This new methodology will officially start in the selective process of the 1st block VFP1-2019 (at the CSRNE and at the same time as the VFP1 Selection Centers employees in the Rome, Palermo and Milan offices) and subsequently for all Armed Forces competitions.

With the adoption of these tests, the Italian Army becomes the first Armed Force in Europe to use these exercises brain training, already tested with great success, both in the military and in the civil field, by an international team of neuroscientists and experts in the field.
