It took place in recent days, by the disinfectors of the command of the Support Terrestrial Operating Forces, the extraordinary sanitization activity of the external and internal spaces of the Arena of Verona, a symbol of the Scaligerian capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The activity is part of a wider sanitation and sanitization work that the Italian Army staff has been carrying out, since the first days of the health emergency, throughout the national territory in public offices, prisons, courts, churches , hospitals and residences for the elderly.

The delicate intervention carried out on the Roman amphitheater dating back to 30 AD was preceded by a joint study between the Superintendency of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Verona, Rovigo and Vicenza, the Conservatory of the Arena of Verona and the Italian Army, from which resulted in the intervention procedure aimed at safeguarding the monument, respecting the environment and protecting visitors, in view of the next reopening to the public.

The disinfectants of the Veronese command, equipped with the Individual Protection Devices provided, such as protective goggles, semi-filtering masks and protective suits, treated the external areas with solutions of neutral sanitizing detergent and the internal ones, toilets and chambers, with sodium hypochlorite 0.1%, through the aid of medium and large capacity self-propelled and self-propelled movement sprayers and low pressure electric pumps.

The commander of the Support FOTER, general of the army corps Giuseppenicola Tota, the mayor of the city, lawyer, attended the sanitation operations. Federico Sboarina, Dr. Cecilia Gasdìa, superintendent of the Arena Foundation and Dr. Brunella Bruno, archaeologist officer of the Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Verona, Rovigo and Vicenza.

"I have to thank the Army, always available in these weeks, and not only, to give us a hand also to sanitize our Amphitheater", said Mayor Sboarina. "This is the preparatory step, essential to get to Phase 2, in which we want to reopen the Arena, turn it back on".

General Tota wanted to express words of thanks to the staff and authorities who intervened: “We live in this city and live it both as military and as citizens. Being present, being able to lend a hand in full synergy with the other institutions and move all in the same direction, fills us with pride.

In the next few days, at the request of the Provider for studies, we will also sanitize the classrooms of the Institutes where the high school exams will take place. It is a way to be close to the citizens to get out of this emergency and it is nice to receive their support ", concluded the commander of Support Terrestrial Operating Forces.
