The exercise took place in recent days at the Grafenwoehr Training Area in Bavaria (Germany). European Best Sniper Team Competition 2024, organized by the US Army Europe and Africa Command and conducted by the 7thth Army Training Command, in which the Italian Army participated with representatives of sharpshooters from the 183rd "Nembo" parachute regiment and 7th Alpine regiment.
The competition, which in this edition saw the presence of 19 NATO countries and Partners for a total of 35 teams, aims to test shooting skills, technical knowledge, the ability to apply the correct tactical procedures and physical preparation of participants who compete in various operational contexts with exercises of increasing difficulty, conducting shots at distances even greater than 1000 meters and with moving targets.
Among the most interesting stages are shooting with a sniper rifle and short weapon from inside a trench following a CBRN attack, shooting from a helicopter in motion and in stationary flight (hovering), night shooting on fixed targets and mobile, search, identification and engagement without the aid of the rangefinder and with only one shot available.
La European Best Sniper Team Competition it is an annual event and represents an important moment of discussion and professional growth for the sharpshooters of the participating countries.
