An Italian Army patrol, coming from the Infantry School, participated in the international exercise called “CAMBRIAN PATROL 2021 (CP21)”, which took place in the Cambrian Mountains in Wales (UK) from 8 to 17 October.

At the event, now in its 62nd edition, organized and hosted by 160th (Wales) Brigade, 70 British patrols and 18 international formations participated.

The CP21 proved to be an exercise of great professional value, physically very challenging and with a high technical content, and saw the Italian patrol successfully tackle a course of over 60 kilometers, on a total altitude difference of about 3000 meters, with a individual equipment of 35 kg. In the 48 hours of intense continuous activity, the military measured themselves with a variety of challenges and exercises that included planning and issuing orders, reaction to Chemical, Bacteriological, Radiological and Nuclear attack (CBRN) and with improvised explosive devices, the first tactical rescue, the nocturnal overcoming of a body of water, the recognition of weapons and vehicles, the request for indirect fire, the expeditious attack on an enemy target and debriefing.

The competition, carried out on an arduous itinerary and with adverse weather conditions that put the participants' survival skills on the battlefield to the test, represented for the Italian patrol an excellent opportunity for professional growth, comparison and exchange with other realities. and allowed to test the physical conditioning, the technical-professional preparation, the leadership and the tenacity due to the specific preparation carried out in the previous 3 months.
