The Army defuses 5 bombs in Sabaudia

On Monday morning, at the request of the prefecture of Latina, the bomb squads of the 21st engineers regiment of the "Garibaldi" bersaglieri brigade of Caserta, a specialized unit of the Italian Army, neutralized five artillery shells dating back to the Second World War in the municipality of Sabaudia in the province of Latina.

The bombs, of American manufacture, had surfaced on the beach of Sabaudia in the locality of Bufalina, following the strong storms of recent days. Due to the state of deterioration in which the bombs were placed, the military conducted and completed the operations to neutralize them after blasting them in an area adjacent to the place of discovery.

The 21st Engineers Regiment of Caserta is a unit of the Engineers Corps which, under the control of the Command of the Southern Operational Forces of Naples, is in charge of reclaiming the territory of Campania, Calabria and the provinces of Latina and Potenza from the residues wars of the two world wars that still exist.

The departments of the Army genius thanks to the high specialization and the means provided, in addition to operational use in international missions, intervene, now constantly, even in cases of public disasters and usefulness throughout the Italian territory, revealing themselves to be a concrete support for the national community.
