The Alpine troops of the "Baltic" Task Group took part in the NATO exercise in Latvia Steele Quench

The activity, conducted at the peak of the "integration" phase with the Allied armies, took place on the premise of the more complex Cristal Arrow exercise, valid for the purposes of achieving the combat readiness within NATO. The exercise, lasting 36 hours, consisted in deploying the various units making up the Battle Group on the ground and subjecting them to a series of activations aimed at testing the defense procedures. It was therefore an important test bed for consolidating the integration and interoperability of the various pawns that make up the NATO forces deployed in Latvia.

The Italian Alpine infantry demonstrated its capabilities during the exercise: high mobility and protection of forces, especially in a highly compartmentalized area characterized by harsh climates, such as the Latvian one. The 34th "Lupi" company quickly deployed near a strategic area for the defense of the Latvian territory, located near the town of Lielvarde. The high mobility, power and speed of the BV 206 S7 vehicles allowed the Alpine of the Task Group Baltic to move quickly, re-modulating the defense device according to the maneuver of the Allied armored assets.

The exercise has also proved to be an important test for the national logistic structures, which have had the opportunity to work side by side with the logistic components of the other contingents supporting and supporting the activity in all its phases. At the end of the exercise, the commander of the Battle Group with Canadian guide, Eric Angel underlined the professionalism, operativeness and efficiency shown by the Alpini del Task Group Baltic.
