A representative of the 2nd "Orione" Army Aviation Support Regiment visited yesterday at the "Carlo Alberto Pizzardi" Major Hospital in Bologna, where the regimental commander, Colonel Enrico Beschi, met with Dr. Chiara Ghizzi, director of the ward of Pediatrics.
The significant meeting ended with a moment of conversation between the Azzurri and the pediatric team, to seal the spirit of solidarity and generosity that unites soldiers and health personnel in their social commitment in favor of the community.
The initiative was born with the intention of bringing a smile and a moment of carefree to the little hospitalized patients. In compliance with the anti-covid regulations, Santa Claus and his assistant Green Elf entered the ward rooms by surprise, delighting the little patients with the distribution of toys. A small number of regimental personnel in flight suits participated to entertain the children, arousing the enthusiasm and interest of the little ones who asked so many curious and funny questions.
The event was realized thanks to the spontaneous synergy between the staff of the 2nd Orion and the ONLUS association “Andromeda”. This expression of solidarity has concretized the availability of a pediatric ultrasound system, a necessary tool to avoid moving young patients to other departments, thus participating in what Dr. Ghizzi herself has defined as a “little big dream”. The diagnostic equipment will be named in memory of a young patient, who fought as courageously as a brave soldier.
