In recent days, the "Cavalry Excercise" exercise, conceived by the Cavalry School of Lecce, in which the operational assets of the squadron astride the "Lancieri di Montebello" regiment (8th ) have carried out a series of training activities aimed at verifying the exploratory capabilities of the Cavalry weapon with particular reference to the use of pairs on horseback in territorial control activities and support to the Police and Civil Protection forces Homeland Security Operations (HLS).

The activity was developed on two stages: the first aimed at verifying the technical-tactical and command-control procedures of the horse patrols, included in the HLS, for the search of missing persons, for the prevention of environmental crimes or, for example, looting in areas affected by natural disasters. The second was conducted together with an scouting platoon equipped for crowd control (Crowd Riot Control - CRC) with, deployed in reserve, eight pairs on horseback in riot gear to be used in the event of any escalation of the crisis.

The "Cavalry Excercise" was preceded by a training of about four weeks during which, thanks to the professionalism and experience of the military riding instructors and CRC of the "Granatieri di Sardegna" brigade, as well as the Infantry Department of the "Centro di Training al Combattimento ”of the Cesano School, the amalgamation and coordination between pairs on horseback and on footed structures was perfected.
