In recent days, corporal Marco Terracina, a volunteer in fixed 1 stationary of the detachment "Lancieri di Montebello" (8 °), while he was on leave at his home, he assisted, along with other authorized personnel of the Sicilian coast, to some swimmers in difficulty on the seafront of Cefalù (PA).

The military, as soon as he realized the gravity of the situation, intervened promptly and, contemptuous of the danger and the current that carried ten swimmers to large, contributed courageously to bring the troubled personnel to safety.

Corporal Terracina has thus given luster to the armed force and to the whole "Granatieri di Sardegna" brigade, a large elementary unit used in training and operational activities at national and international level.

The commander of the grenadiers, Brigadier General Maurizio Riccò, complimented the military dependent and remarked that "beyond the territorial boundaries, the grenadier soldier is always found ready, even if he is in rest, because the good of the community is an asset that must be guarded with daily application and spirit of sacrifice, always putting the sense of duty in the first place for the rescue of the civil population, even in conditions of very high risk for one's life ".

As regards operational activities abroad, the grenadiers brigade returned from Lebanon for about four months, while on the national territory the brigade manages, as part of the "Safe Roads" operation, the territoriality of the capital, with the responsibility of grouping "Rome". Currently, the Montebello Lancers regiment (8th) is employed in Kosovo at the helm of the Multinational Battle Group West.
