At Tactical Training Center level 1 of Capo Teulada, as part of the activity of preparing the units for missions abroad, the Lagunari regiment "Serenissima" has conducted, in recent days, the exercise "Capricorn 5-2021".
The purpose of the activity was to develop the decision-making process for planning, organizing and conducting a battle group level of a peace support operation (not art. 5 of the NATO Treaty).
The exercise, developed in several phases, allowed the staff to improve their knowledge of their equipment and the means provided, and then continue with the familiarization with the Integrated Systems for Terrestrial Training (SIAT).
The activities ended with a continuous exercise that saw the Lagunari train with "enemy" troops (called OPFOR - Opposing Forces) represented by aliquots of the 3rd Bersaglieri regiment, in a crescendo of activations in terms of intensity and difficulty.
The activity made it possible to operate in real environments and react to situations and events in which the application of the Standardized Tactical Incident Reactions (STIR). Furthermore, the conduct of “off road” guides and having tested the self-aid and first aid capabilities with medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) completed the intervention capabilities of the units.
The exercise was developed in full compliance with environmental regulations and in compliance with the measures to contain the contagion from COVID-19. The Lagunari regiment is part of the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" cavalry brigade, a large unit of the Italian Army with National Projection Screening Capacity (CNPM).
