In the last few days the "blood emergency" in Salento has increased considerably to the point that dr. Di Renzo, head of the "Vito Fazzi" PO Hematology Unit, launched a request for help, urging the citizens and the various associations of volunteers in the area to go to the hospital to make a blood donation.

The Cavalry School, which in recent years has always been at the forefront of blood donation (relay of donations on the occasion of the Feast of St. George the Martyr, Patron of the Cavalry Army, interforce marathon "Together for life", to quote the latest events), immediately accepted this heartfelt appeal and promptly spread the news among the soldiers of their own departments, who, animated by the values of solidarity and active participation towards the Salento community, guaranteed their availability.

In just a few hours, a donation campaign was organized, structured to ensure a continuous supply of blood bags in the coming months.

The activity began on March 4, with the presence of 25 military personnel, including the commander of the Institute, Gen. b. Angelo Minelli, and will continue until April 22, in accordance with a scheduled schedule with the medical director dr. Gianpiero Frassanito.

The hope, in addition to meeting a tangible need and facing the emergency, is that this example is followed by many citizens, so that a simple gesture such as choosing to donate blood becomes a common action, aimed at health protection and for the good of the community.
