22/05/14

Today, in the presence of the army chief of staff, General Claudio Graziano, the exercise "LUX IGNIS III" conducted by the "Pinerolo" brigade of Bari, as a premise for entry into the Lebanese operational theater, ended.

About 1400 men and women have developed, from the sip 28 April, a series of dynamic activities, day and night, to verify the ability to operate in the Lebanese theater of operations, and always with the attention and responsibility to create the conditions of protection of the territory by minimizing the environmental impact within the occasional tower of Torre di Nebbia.

Today's final exercise saw the organization of two different actions in focus with the involvement of all the operational and logistic components present for a total of 600 soldiers and about 100 means between tactical and logistic.

During the first activity the reaction to an attack conducted by hostile forces against a logistic convoy of humanitarian aid was foreseen, a situation very adherent to all the scenarios of operational theaters. In support of this reaction, modern combat rotated weapon systems (Centaur, Freccia and Lince) have intervened.

The action allowed to verify the command and control capabilities of all the assets exercised by coordinating fire and movement with synchronism and great dynamism. The second training activity simulated support for government mediators attacked during a meeting with other authorities recovered and made safe by a set of forces with combat capabilities in inhabited centers and specialized in VIP protection and escort.
