JULIA returns to Afghanistan

With a brief but significant ceremony held yesterday inside the "Di Prampero" barracks in Udine, where the brigade command, in the presence of the National Labaro of the National Alpine Association and of the main civil, military and ecclesiastical authorities, the Alpine Brigade Julia greeted the city of Udine.

Ceremony carried out in a contained and restricted form in full compliance with the provisions issued regarding the contrast and containment of the spread of Covid-19.

The Alpine Brigade Julia in its configuration Multinational Land Force (MLF), the only unit at the brigade level of the Italian Army to be permanently multinational, is deployed for the fifth time in the delicate Afghan territory under the command of Brigadier General Alberto Vezzoli.

In fact, together with the Hungarian and Slovenian colleagues, it will constitute the command of the TAAC West (Train Advise and Assist Command West) in Herat, with the task of training, advising and assisting the Afghan National Army in conducting operations aimed at maintaining security in the context of the operation Resolute Support.

MLF has already operated in this difficult context where the main task of the men and women of the brigade is to provide advice, assistance, training and advice to the Afghan security forces also in the logistical management of materials and in the circulation and processing of information.

The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, in addition, with its governor, Massimiliano Fedriga, wanted to support the brigade by donating lung fans and individual protective devices for the COVID emergency.
