The “Kangaroo 24” exercise, conducted in the Persano area by the “Acqui” division command together with its support unit, the 57th “Abruzzi” command and tactical support unit and assets from the “Garibaldi” brigade, the 232nd transmission regiment, the “Vulture” transmission battalion and the 17th “Sforzesca” anti-aircraft artillery regiment, concluded in recent days.
The main training objective was to consolidate the capacity of theAcqui of deployment of the divisional command post (PCD) in a scenario warfighting, testing the effectiveness of the entire command and control structure.
The activity conducted was also the occasion for some technical experiments and for the implementation of the IMPERIO command and control system which, integrated with radio systems, ensures the tracking of the units during the maneuver.
During the exercise, a “Study Day” was also conducted with the commanders of some maneuver brigades and specialist brigades of the Army, during which invaluable ideas emerged aimed at continuing the ongoing experimentation.
La Kangaroo 24 culminated with the visit of Gen. Ca Gaetano Zauner, commander of the Terrestrial Operations, who chaired the Distinguished Visitors Day and attended a field simulation of the divisional maneuver in a harsh environment warfighting with Gen. D. Maurizio Fronda, commander of the “Acqui” division, who illustrated the features, aims and initial instructions of the activity conducted.
The FOTER commander expressed his satisfaction with the level achieved both in terms of personnel performance and with regards to the experimentation of new technologies implemented in “Kangaroo 24”, underlining that the human factor, training, discipline and preparation of the soldier remain solid and essential pillars in the process of technological modernization and transformation of the Army.
